REFLECTION

After a marvellous mountaintop experience — where I felt seen, supported, connected and encouraged — the next day unfolded with flying arrows aimed at my heart. Life in a fallen world certainly shifts and shakes, but the steadfast love of the Lord does indeed endure forever (see Lamentations 3:22-23). So we can confidently put on the full armour of God (see Ephesians 6:10-18) and keep a firm grip on the Sword of the Spirit [the Word of God], with the shield of faith ever up, standing strong in prayer with fellow believers, ever ready for battle in the valleys. Inner and outer battles can come with really raw emotions, but we can take our fluctuating feelings to our perfectly kind and compassionate Creator and process it all in the light of His Word, trusting Him to show us the way forward. So let’s stay close to Him in every experience, be it up high on a marvellous mountaintop or down low in a dark valley, trusting our sovereign Saviour to turn whatever was meant to harm us into something good (see Genesis 50:20). We can trust His perfect process, knowing that absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love.

PRAYER POEM

My marvellous and merciful Maker ~ You are always worthy of praise, so through all the highs and lows, to You I lift my gaze. You know in full, while we know in part, so I ask that You speak truth to my heart and keep me tethered to You in every moment of every day, come what may.
