Learning & Growing Together

The way God designed our bodies is a model for understanding our lives together as a church: every part dependent on every other part, the parts we mention and the parts we don’t, the parts we see and the parts we don’t. If one part hurts, every other part is involved in the hurt, and in the healing. If one part flourishes, every other part enters into the exuberance. (1 Corinthians 12:25-26 MSG)

REFLECTION

I was recently reminded of the value of community and how important intergenerational learning is. For example: when a young university graduate encounters an older person – who doesn’t have a formal degree but has gleaned a great deal of wisdom over the years – each one has something to give the other, if they can put down pride and humbly listen and learn. For only God knows everything and we – His handiwork – are called to get to know Him and His ways, and continually learn and grow by His grace (within a caring Christian community), until we meet Him face to face.

For now [in this time of imperfection] we see in a mirror dimly [a blurred reflection, a riddle, an enigma], but then [when the time of perfection comes we will see reality] face to face. Now I know in part [just in fragments], but then I will know fully, just as I have been fully known [by God]. (1 Corinthians 13:12 AMP)

PRAYER POEM

LORD, help me hear and heed Your Word and do what You say, each and every day. Teach me how to cultivate unity in community, as I learn and grow in the glow of Your glorious grace, until I see You face to face.
