Enduring Faith

“Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].” Hebrews 11:1 (amp)

REFLECTION

When (obvious) blessings abound and every kind of encouragement is easily found, I find my faith fired up and ready to move forward fervently! But when the branches of my everyday life are painfully pruned back and are standing bare in the bright glare of reality, and instead of momentum into all things meaningful and marvellous, I need to contend with a series of setbacks and all manner of curve balls, well… that’s when I find out if I have real faith, the kind of faith that is not based on fickle feelings or fleeting pleasures but rather on God’s Word.

Prayerful planning and prudence has its place, but we cannot foresee everything that is coming, only our omniscient Creator knows that, and it’s only when we intentionally seek to know the One who knows everything, that we can experience a deep knowing that, come what may, the One in whom we trust is sovereign and will have the final say. In light of eternity, our time here on earth is so short, but every moment matters, and where we place our trust matters most.

PRAYER POEM: Perfectly Trustworthy

Lord, thank You that in the flux of fluctuating feelings and all manner of adversity, You remain perfectly trustworthy. Whether celebrating or in the centre of a swirling storm, I pray that You help me fully yield to You as I transform.
