Sharing Burdens

“Live creatively, friends. If someone falls into sin, forgivingly restore him, saving your critical comments for yourself. You might be needing forgiveness before the day’s out. Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ’s law. If you think you are too good for that, you are badly deceived.”(Galatians 6:1-3 MSG)

REFLECTION

Sometimes love is not emotional and involves simply showing up with a courageous smile that lets others know that they are not alone and that you’re willing to work through issues together. This is especially important when someone messes up. I’ve found that acknowledged mistakes (not pointing fingers and making excuses) can be turned into valuable lessons and come with an opportunity to adopt a more caring and supportive approach to growth. Healthy boundaries have their place and consequences their time, but irrespective of how things unfold, may our words and actions remind us and others that we are all deeply loved and valued (for who we are ~ God’s beloved workmanship) and not just when we do well. And that relationships and integrity are more important than projecting a polished image or winning at any cost.

PRAYER POEM: Beloved

Lord, fortify our faith in the fiery fray as we learn Your language of love, day by day.

Help us humbly help others, seeing each other as beloved sisters and brothers.

Stir us to pray and praise You, every day, come what may …for You are our marvellous Maker and we can trust Your higher way.
