“…the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7 ESV)
REFLECTION
Not one of us is perfect in all our ways, this side of Heaven. Jesus is the only perfect One. Every believer is in an ongoing process of sanctification and transformation, and we are not called to be passive participants but to be prayerfully active in seeking to cooperate with the One who knows and loves us best. Spiritual heart work is needed because, for starters, no one survives childhood unscathed for the aforementioned reasons. I’ve found that ongoing spiritual heart work (done in faith) is a vital necessity to experience true inner healing and to stay spiritually healthy. For me, this involves ongoing honest prayer, replacing heart lies with God’s truth, writing / journaling, being proactive in the body of Christ and staying committed to ongoing prayer ministry. What do you do with all that is going on in the depths of your heart?
PRAYER POEM
LORD, You alone know the depths of my heart, so please help me to fully cooperate with You in the ongoing sanctification and transformation process. May I be quick to confess and stay yielded to You in all that I think, say and do.
