“Our hope comes from God. May He fill you with joy and peace because of your trust in Him. May your hope grow stronger by the power of the Holy Spirit.”(Romans 15:13 NLV)
REFLECTION
Trust — trusting God — precedes joy, peace and abounding hope. Every good thing comes from Him, who is perfect goodness. So, how do we consistently trust our perfectly good Maker — whom we currently cannot see — when we see so much sin, sorrow and suffering in and around us? The answer is well known, but is only made real in actual practice…which involves prioritising prayer and pondering the truth of God’s Word until we believe Him and His Word more than what we see. For we are called to walk by faith and not by sight (see 2 Corinthians 5:7). And as we prioritise seeking Him, He blesses our perspective and we start to see and seek that which aligns with His will, and we transform from glory to glory (and positively impact our spheres of influence) by the power of the Holy Spirit. And hope grows stronger as we experience and share the fruit of the Spirit: “…love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22-23 NIV)
Hallelujah!
PRAYER POEM
LORD …hope and every good thing comes from You, for You are always perfectly good and Your Word is forever true. Teach me to truly trust You in everything I go through. And may all that comes from You grow as I seek to more deeply You know.
