“Then Jesus, armed with the Holy Spirit’s power, returned to Galilee, and his fame spread throughout the region. He taught in the synagogues and they glorified him. When he came to Nazareth, where he had grown up, he went into the synagogue, as he always did on the Sabbath. When Jesus came to the front to read the Scriptures, he was handed the scroll of the prophet Isaiah. He unrolled the scroll and found where it is written, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, and he has anointed me to be hope for the poor, healing for the brokenhearted, and new eyes for the blind, and to preach to prisoners, ‘You are set free!’ I have come to share the message of Jubilee, for the time of God’s great acceptance has begun.””

Word study: Jubilee
“The Year of Jubilee foreshadows the finished and sufficient work of the Lord Jesus. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus, He relieves sinners from their spiritual debts and slavery to sin. Today sinners can be freed from both to have both union and communion with God the Father and enjoy fellowship with the people of God.” (Direct reference: https://www.crosswalk.com/faith/bible-study/what-christians-should-know-about-the-year-of-jubilee.html)
REFLECTION
Every breath we take is a grace gift from our Creator, who sustains every living being. And we certainly cannot do anything He calls us to do without the power of His Holy Spirit. So let’s continually ask the One who made us and sustains us to fill us, empower us, direct our steps and lead us into all truth…may that be our ongoing prayer. We need not fear falling out of step with Him, as long as we keep drawing near to Him in prayer and ponder His living and active words, we can trust that He will guide us and course correct us if need be. We can rest assured that however things may unfold, however messy the process may be at times, He will indeed work all things together for our good and His glory. So we can press on confidently in faith, hope and His empowering love, as we journey on with Him and our brothers and sisters in Christ.
PRAYER POEM: In Sync
Holy Spirit, have Your way – in and through me – every day, come what may, in Jesus’ name I pray.
Fill me, empower me, keep me in sync, in step with You and lead me into all that is true.
Infuse me with love from above, for I long to know You more deeply and flow with You more freely.
May we who love You be abundantly blessed in The Holy Trinity and be reassured of victory, as we journeying together into eternity.
