Love Works

Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” [Matthew 9:35-38 NIV]

REFLECTION

Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever (see Hebrews 13:8). He healed back then and He heals now. If we do a deep dive into scripture we will find that Jesus healed people in many different ways, and scripture also reminds us that God knows the days allotted to us (see Psalm 139:16). God’s ways are infinitely higher and He is perfectly loving and wise, so we can trust Him in the sanctifying, healing, restoring, transforming process. And we don’t need to feel perfectly put together to do the work He calls us to, we need only be yielded to Him as best as we know how to be and trust Him when He says that His grace is sufficient and His power is made perfect in weakness (see 2 Corinthians 12:9).

PRAYER POEM: Infinitely Higher

Jesus, here is my heart: shine Your light …reveal and heal any dark part.

Help me fully yield to You and grant me grace to joyfully do the work you’ve called me to.

Your ways are infinitely higher, so please keep me tethered to You in the refining fire.

Help me heed what I hear, and let You steer, working in love together, now and forever.
