“Charm and grace are deceptive, and [superficial] beauty is vain, But a woman who fears the Lord [reverently worshiping, obeying, serving, and trusting Him with awe-filled respect], she shall be praised.“

REFLECTION
I recently reminded one of my pre-teen students (who was/is clearly besotted with external beauty) that a beautiful heart is more important than superficial beauty. We went on to discuss what it actually means to have a beautiful heart and she even wrote a short essay about it. And yet, knowing this, I still find myself sometimes thinking a bit too much about how I look. In fact, I’m writing this while at a hair salon where I’m having my hair bleached, dyed and beautified. So the reminder was clearly for both of us. That said, I have come to the salon not only to have my hair done, but to also share the gospel with the styling team.
I think that creative self-expression (in all its forms) has its place and can glorify God, but let’s stay prayerful and ask our indescribably beautiful Creator – who is the very Source of true beauty – to help us to, first and foremost, reverently worship, obey, serve, and trust Him with awe-filled respect.
PRAYER POEM: Blessed Beauty
My Marvellous Maker ~ move me to know and glorify You in everything I think, say and do. May Your blessed beauty blaze within me as I keep my gaze on You and fill my heart with all that is eternally beautiful and true.
