Do not let unwholesome [foul, profane, worthless, vulgar] words ever come out of your mouth, but only such speech as is good for building up others, according to the need and the occasion, so that it will be a blessing to those who hear [you speak]. Ephesians 4:29 AMP
REFLECTION
I’m all for light-hearted banter, but if something is said that I know is not right and true, then the right thing to do is to correct it in a kind way, while humbly remaining open to correction myself, mindful of Philippians 4:8 (ERV): Brothers and sisters, continue to think about what is good and worthy of praise. Think about what is true and honorable and right and pure and beautiful and respected.
Whether its light-hearted banter, hearty humour or a solemn/serious discussion, let’s prayerfully aim to always speak the truth in love (see Ephesians 4:15).
PRAYER POEM: Worthy
Loving Lord ~ You are always worthy of praise, for You never cease to amaze. Nothing can compare to You and all the wise and wonderful things You do. Help me stay in a state of awe and wonder as I prayerfully ponder Your ways for the rest of my days. May the words that I speak be blessed from above and infused with Your love.
