Prudent Pacing

“Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time…” (Ephesians 5:15,16)

I once saw a young man weaving through busy traffic to cross the road, which reminded me of all the times I’ve seen some locals ignoring crosswalks and red lights and rushing across roads that are replete with roaring traffic, seemingly unaware that they could become a news headline or land up in hospital or worse, as some had. Road rules are in place for our good to keep us safe, just like God’s commands are for our good, only infinitely more important. We are progressively sanctified, transformed and become bearers of good fruit, by the power of the Holy Spirit, as we prioritise reading and obeying God’s Word in faith. Christ makes this all possible and every moment of every day, we are graciously given the gift of choice. So let’s prayerfully aim to choose wisely. As costly as it may be sometimes, the way of wisdom is always worthwhile. Let’s choose to fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, and choose to cooperate with the Holy Spirit and do, in faith, what we believe God is guiding us to do, from a place of knowing that we are deeply loved by our merciful Maker.

PRAYER POEM: Stay

Lord, please help me stay close ~ regardless of whether I feel merry or morose. May I stay in step with You, every day, come what may.

Thank You, Lord, that You always come through for those who turn to You.
