Unfailing Love

“And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.” (Romans 8:28 AMP)

REFLECTION

By God’s grace, I’ve experienced great victories and breakthroughs, but I’ve also experienced the profound disappointment of unmet expectations and varying degrees of failure. Each day is usually a mixed bag of success and failure. The realities of relationships and the frailty of our humanity means that failure is inevitable. Facing failure is not a fun way to pass the time, but it’s necessary if we want to find the hidden gems of insight that failure offers, all of which better equip us to face our current reality, and as a bonus, we can share what we learn with others and enrich our relationships/community for the benefit of all.

I’ve found that I could only open the gift of failure after I acknowledged and accepted it, and invited God into the process of unpacking what was inside… which involved forgiving others, forgiving myself and releasing resentment. While going through the unpacking process, I’d bring my questions to God in prayer, and I found that answers always came, albeit not always as and when expected. And sometimes silence is an answer. Staying close to God, prayerfully meditating on His words of truth, will usher out destructive lies and increase our faith. And as we faithfully co-labour with our Maker, we can create something beautiful out of the fragmented fallout of failure.

Let’s meditate on Romans 8:28, until it’s so deeply etched on our hearts that nothing can stop us moving forward in faith, hope and God’s unfailing love.

PRAYER POEM: Believe

Lord, may I never You grieve, but with every beat of my heart, believe and Your love receive.
