“Pray, then, in this way:
‘Our Father, who is in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
‘Your kingdom come,
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
‘Give us this day our daily bread.
‘And forgive us our debts, as we have forgiven our debtors [letting go of both the wrong and the resentment].
‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.]’ (Matthew 6:9-13 AMP)
REFLECTION
When I pray The Lord’s Prayer, I sincerely say the words from my heart, but only when the words I say are put to the test in the firey moments of every day life, can I see the quality of my faith.
There are moments / days when I’m so encouraged and feel so close to the Lord. And then there are other moments / days when nothing seems to be working out the way I had expected or hoped and disappointment, frustration and a plethora of emotions are at the door… because of the seemingly unfairness of how things have unfolded. And this affects the way I interact with people and approach challenges etc. So, I go to the only One who really knows what’s going on (within the depths of me) and all around me, and I pray in a really raw honest way. And every time I do this, our merciful Maker meets me where I’m at and helps me to more deeply trust Him, in the mystery and the mayhem, and peacefully yield to His will, which is always perfect.
“Come close to God [with a contrite heart] and He will come close to you…” (James 4:8 AMP)
PRAYER POEM
LORD, You see me cry. You see me try, try and try. You alone know what’s really going on and why. You are forever faithful and true, so today I pray please help me always yield to You.
