“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails…” (1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NIV)
REFLECTION
In the midst of an unexpected crisis, a seasoned prayer minister asked me: “What is the way of love…the love of Jesus in this situation…?”
On the same day, a fellow believer sent me an email that pointed me to 1 Corinthians 13 — the biblical definition of love. It’s a passage I’m very familiar with, but as I prayerfully pondered it again, I was moved to tears as I sensed the Holy Spirit of God ministering to my heart in a fresh way. And I received a measure of clarity as to how to respond to the crisis, in the light of His love.
PRAYER POEM
Loving Lord ~ we are able to love because You first loved us and lead us into all that is true. Imbue all of us who call on You with Your unfailing love as we pray and ponder together, now and forever.
