REFLECTION

“The Bible is great literature and the all-time number-one best-seller. It contains history, entertaining stories, poetry, philosophy, and personal letters. But, more than that, the Bible is God’s Word. If we have to speak of a single purpose of the Bible, it would be to reveal God to us. There are many things that we could never know about God unless He told them to us. The Bible is God’s self-revelation to humanity. The Bible also tells us who we are. It tells us of our sin and of God’s plan of salvation in Jesus Christ.” – gotquestions.org

Ever since I can remember, I’ve enjoyed reading books. I have read widely and regularly for decades and I’ve learnt (and I am still learning) a lot. But, the best book by far is The Bible. God’s Word truly is living and active (see Hebrews 4:12) and because I’ve seen how His Word has transformed (and continues to transform) my mind and my life, it’s the only book that I prayerfully ponder every day, whether I feel like reading or not. For I know that regardless of how I may feel, God is faithful — He does not lie (see Hebrews 6:18) and His Word does not return void (see Isaiah 55:11).

PRAYER POEM

Sovereign Lord, thank You for Your living and active Word that is and forever will be true. Help me stay close to You and persistently pray and ponder, with wonder, Your promises, every day, come what may — embracing the refining and trusting You to reveal something new and do what only You can do, in Your Higher way and perfect timing.
