Just as each one of you has received a special gift [a spiritual talent, an ability graciously given by God], employ it in serving one another as [is appropriate for] good stewards of God’s multi-faceted grace [faithfully using the diverse, varied gifts and abilities granted to Christians by God’s unmerited favor]. 1 Peter 4:10 AMP
REFLECTION
It seems to me that one of the biggest battles I face each day is the fight against my selfish tendencies. My thoughts seem to naturally gravitate towards anything and everything that will please me. The reality is that while selfishness may start with a good feeling, it always leads to regret. And we cannot conquer selfishness on our own …the very thought that we can is sinfully prideful and self-centred. But – praise God – there is a solution to the prevalent problem of selfishness, found in our sinless Saviour, Jesus Christ. So, let’s stay close to Him – in prayer, praise and pondering His words and ways – and trust Him to teach us how to selflessly serve others, “…remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”(see Acts 20:35 NIV)
PRAYER POEM: Hallelujah
Jesus Christ ~ Sovereign Saviour, Conquering King: Hallelujah I sing. You make it possible for me to selflessly serve and give You the glory You so deserve. You are without fault, so I exalt Your holy name and seek to serve for Your fame.
