Seek + Find

“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. ‘For in him we live and move and have our being. ‘As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’ Acts 17:24-28 NIV

REFLECTION

Word Study: seek

Greek (zēteō)

  1. to seek [in order to find out] by thinking, meditating, reasoning, to enquire into
  2. to seek after, seek for, aim at, strive after [Strong’s G2212]

God’s love for us is expressed / revealed to us in so many ways. The living and active truth in this passage has ignited gratitude as I’m reminded of God’s incomparable generosity. He gives us life, breath and everything else — this awe inspiring giving reassures me of His deep love for us. So, whether we find ourselves dancing in delight or dealing with difficulties, let’s seek and find Him…and pray to always abide in Him, for (though some are not yet aware of it) He is the Living Water we thirst for, and we cannot bear any (eternal) fruit without Him.

PRAYER POEM: Yahweh

We live, we move, we have our being, in You, oh Holy One. We are one in the Son. We dance, we dream in love divine, in You our Living Vine.

Oh Yahweh, hear my prayer: nothing can ever dim the bright light of Your truth that will forever shine. May Your words to me always be: Beloved, you are mine.
