Ephesians 5:3 AMP

“But sexual immorality and all [moral] impurity [indecent, offensive behavior] or greed must not even be hinted at among you, as is proper among saints [for as believers our way of life, whether in public or in private, reflects the validity of our faith].”Ephesians‬ ‭5:3‬ ‭AMP‬‬

REFLECTION

Overt indecent, offensive behaviour is easy to spot and therefore easier to prayerfully deal with, but the sin of greed can be insidious, subtle and slippery. It comes in many forms, be it greed for wealth, possessions, food, fame, attention / favour of man. It feeds discontent, leading to a dangerous path littered with idols – in the opposite direction of contentment in Christ. Oh, let’s earnestly and regularly check our hearts and ask the Lord to search, clean and heal our hearts, so that we don’t find ourselves entangled in sin and unnecessary sorrow. Let’s not forget the warning in Matthew 7:13-14 NKJV: “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” Let’s keep the eyes of our hearts beholding the beauty of God and trust our wise, loving Maker to give us what we need, in His perfect timing, according to His plans for our lives as we move forward in faith. He made us and He knows how to protect us (from that which would ultimately destroy us) and He knows how to truly, deeply satisfy us.
