“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV)
REFLECTION
As believers, the foundation of our faith is the steadfast love of God, made clear in the sacred scriptures. Our faith is not based on our fluctuating feelings, but instead the Word of God encourages us to “…fix our eyes on Jesus, faith’s pioneer and perfecter…”(Hebrews 12:2 CEB). That said, God clearly purposefully made us with emotions. And while good feelings are fabulous and can fan inspiration and propel us forward in faith, bad feelings can serve a purpose too. Emotions can be sacred signals. So, however we may feel, be it inspired or anxious, let’s turn to the One who made us and prayerfully pay attention, mindful of Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV).
And as we seek to stay close and open to the Lord, we can trust that He is doing something eternally good, in and through us, in His higher way and perfect timing.
