Providing Love

Let your character [your moral essence, your inner nature] be free from the love of money [shun greed—be financially ethical], being content with what you have; for He has said, “I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!” So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently say,

“The Lord is my Helper [in time of need], I will not be afraid. What will man do to me?” Hebrews 13:5-6 AMP

REFLECTION

Money matters matter. Whether we find ourselves in the flow of financial abundance or our purse is painfully pruned, where we place our trust is revealed. Good stewardship and responsibility has its place – however – needs invariably arise, be they financial, painfully personal, relational or circumstantial. And in that need is an opportunity to trust our Provider more deeply. We can choose to panic or pray. Praying paves the way to the peace we long for, but when we pray, let’s not turn our prayer time into a pity party. Let’s keep it real, but honour our faithful Father by praising Him and thanking Him, as we approach the throne of grace in our time of need, trusting that He knows what we are going through and He will provide. And let’s stay open to how He provides. He made us, He loves us, and He alone knows exactly what we truly need, when and why.

PRAYER POEM: Storm Stiller

Lord ~ when storms swirl, you are my Shield, my Strength, my Helper, my Shelter.

You are the One who stills every storm and delivers every dazzling dawn.

Oh Lord of lords, keep my gaze on You, for You are faithful and true.
