Priorities

“What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” Mark 8: 36 NIV

REFLECTION

I invite you to prayerfully ponder a question with me today: is there an aspect of my life that determines the state of my inner reality? In other words, if that aspect of my life is going well, I feel secure and happy, but if not, I don’t. Our priorities reveal what’s most important to us. If our relationship with God is our number one priority, it will be confirmed in us prayerfully aiming for excellence and being increasingly stable (within), knowing that we are eternally loved and secure in Christ, no matter what happens. That said, our caring Creator knows that we are so very human and He has made a way for us to be free from anything that hinders and harms us, including idolatry.

The Bible says: “…if we freely admit our sins when his light uncovers them, he will be faithful to forgive us every time. God is just to forgive us our sins because of Christ, and he will continue to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (see 1 John 1:9 TPT)

Let’s humbly draw near to God in honest prayer, knowing that what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal (see 2 Corinthians 4:18).

PRAYER POEM: Turn

My merciful Maker, search and show me anything hindering our intimacy, and as I turn in trust, enlighten me to wisely deal with whatever You reveal.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
