Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights [the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens], in whom there is no variation [no rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [for He is perfect and never changes]. James 1:17 AMP
REFLECTION
Every good gift is from God, be it natural ability, energy, resources etc. And we are called to co-labour with our Maker and steward the gifts He gives us (see 1 Corinthians 3:9) to benefit others and glorify Him. However, sometimes success / fruitfulness comes with the temptation to emphasise our efforts instead of the grace of God.
So let’s prayerfully and carefully keep our priorities straight, in line with Matthew 6:33 (EXB):
Seek first [Be concerned above all else with] God’s kingdom and what God wants [his righteousness]. Then all your other needs will be met as well [these things will be given to you].
PRAYER POEM: Glorious Grace
Loving Lord, may my love for You remain aflame and my efforts never be in vain.
May my faith never wane, even in persecution and pain.
Forever You reign as Conquering King, and by Your glorious grace I can do every good thing and forever Your praises sing.
