Place Your Life Before God
“So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.” (Romans 12:1-2 MSG)
REFLECTION
After a long wait to board my second (long) flight within 24 hours, I just wanted to find my seat, settle in and quietly mind my own business. And then a very friendly (and talkative) man was assigned a seat right next to me. I did my best to be polite, but I think my body language was making it clear that I needed some space. He was gracious and I eventually relaxed enough to open up and be willing to connect. And as we found common ground and shared ideas, we were both clearly inspired and encouraged. Quiet time alone, to prayerfully reflect etc, is very important…but this unexpected situation reminded me to also stay prayerfully open and willing, wherever I find myself and however I may feel, trusting our marvellous Maker in every unfolding experience.
PRAYER POEM:
Loving Lord, You are the only One who truly knows exactly what we all need, so please help me heed Your voice and stay in sync with You, choice by choice.
