“Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].” (Philippians 4:8 AMP)
REFLECTION
The thoughts we have and the words we use carry power. The way we typically think about things really matters and impacts our perspective and relationships. If one has experienced a lot of unexpected difficulties and disappointments, then it can be tempting to always brace oneself for worst-case scenario and get caught in a cycle of cynicism and anxiety. There is a better way. Let’s prayerfully plan and prepare and intentionally train our brains to line up with God’s Word, while staying alert and prayerfully dealing with realities, trusting God to do what only He can do, while we do what we can in faith.
