“Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out;
you formed me in my mother’s womb.
I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking!
Body and soul, I am marvelously made!
I worship in adoration—what a creation!
You know me inside and out,
you know every bone in my body;
You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,
how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth;
all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
The days of my life all prepared
before I’d even lived one day.” (Psalm 139:13-16 MSG)
REFLECTION
When I remember that I’ve been marvelously made by my marvelous Maker, I’m able to marvel at how I’ve been made, without pride getting in the way. And when my shortcomings make me cringe and I remember that Jesus died and rose again to conquer the sin that so easily entangles, I’m able to cultivate genuine gratitude and stay close to Him in the sanctification and transformation process. And as I seek to prayerfully live out God’s Word in faith, I am able to marvel at His fingerprints all over each unique living being around me, in the light of His mercy and grace. We were made for relationship with our Maker and those He made, so let’s prayerfully lean in, linger and learn how to truly love, as we journey together to our forever home.
PRAYER POEM
My Marvelous Maker, You know me inside and out, and what I’m truly all about. I am deeply grateful that You are — without a shadow of doubt — truly trustworthy and forever faithful.
