Lit Love

“Who is this one? She arises out of her desert, clinging to her beloved. When I awakened you under the apple tree, as you were feasting upon me, I awakened your innermost being with the travail of birth as you longed for more of me. Fasten me upon your heart as a seal of fire forevermore. This living, consuming flame will seal you as my prisoner of love. My passion is stronger than the chains of death and the grave, all consuming as the very flashes of fire from the burning heart of God. Place this fierce, unrelenting fire over your entire being.”

‭‭Song of Songs‬ ‭8:5-6‬ ‭TPT‬‬

REFLECTION

In this passionate passage, what stands out to me is that we cannot spiritually awaken ourselves, but rather our merciful Maker does the awakening when we lean in and linger in pursuit of intimacy with Him. When we feast on His Words, with a heart to know and abide in Him, aligning with His truth, our hearts become lit with His love, burning ever brighter as we fan the flame of faith. And the word fasten reminds me that intentionality, a choice, an action of faith is needed. By faith we can fasten our Beloved upon our hearts, and be locked into love, unable to escape His all powerful, protective, perfectly passionate and pure living love.

PRAYER POEM: Burning Bright

Loving Lord, You are forever faithful and true, and in You there are blessings of every hue. Help me to lean on You, who shines light into the dark night and can take us through into all that is radiant and new, lit and burning bright.
