“Be still and rest in the Lord; wait for Him and patiently lean yourself upon Him…” (Psalm 37:7 AMPC)
REFLECTION
Waiting can be wonderful. I know this statement may seem absurd, but there have been times that I’ve experienced it to be true…and I believe that it can be an ongoing reality in Christ.
When I start struggling (to the point of stress) to figure out exactly why things are unfolding the way they are, then I find that I lose my peace and can get caught up in a whirlwind of worry. Of course, there is nothing wrong with prayerfully thinking things through, but when we take the reins — instead of turning to the One who reigns — we can get into an unnecessary flux. I’ve found, to my delight, that when I turn to our compassionate Creator and prayerfully ponder reality in the light of His Word, I shift from restlessness to rest as I receive a fresh revelation of the trustworthiness of the Lord. And as I experience deepening trust, I am able to process problems and deal with issues in a peaceful way that glorifies Him and bears good fruit, and I’m more open to fresh encouragement and inspiration in the unfolding process. Whatever we do or go through, let’s stay close to the omniscient One and experience deep rest, as we rely on Him to work wonders in His higher way and perfect timing.
PRAYER POEM
LORD, there is none like You. You are perfect in every way. Oh help me so close to You stay and trust You come what may. Your ways are far above what I can currently conceive, so to You I cleave and trust that I will receive exactly what I need, for You are perfectly faithful indeed.
