“Those who are kind benefit themselves.
But mean people bring ruin on themselves.” (Proverbs 11:17 NIRV)
REFLECTION
During my first year in China, I came across an emaciated, distressed kitten that was tied to a grate and drenched in the pouring rain. With help, I rescued and cared for this helpless animal and found a suitable home for him. In the process, I met kind people and experienced kindness, which is understood and appreciated by every living being. Kindness comes in many forms, be it practical without words, confronting with care or speaking hard truth in love. Mindful that kindness is a fruit of the Spirit, let’s seek to stay close to the Source of kindness, our merciful Maker. And, as we prayerfully move forward, let’s intentionally cultivate kindness in our thoughts, words and deeds, trusting the Lord to meet needs in His higher way and perfect timing.
PRAYER POEM
My merciful Maker ~ the Maker of me and every living being I see. Open my heart to more deeply receive and appreciate Your perfect kindness. Empower me and those in my community to cultivate kindness wherever we go, aware that we reap what we sow.
