“For be sure of this: no immoral, impure, or greedy person—for that one is [in effect] an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God [for such a person places a higher value on something other than God]. Let no one deceive you with empty arguments [that encourage you to sin], for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience [those who habitually sin]. So do not participate or even associate with them [in the rebelliousness of sin]. For once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of Light [live as those who are native-born to the Light] (for the fruit [the effect, the result] of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), trying to learn [by experience] what is pleasing to the Lord [and letting your lifestyles be examples of what is most acceptable to Him—your behavior expressing gratitude to God for your salvation].” Ephesians 5:5-10 AMP
REFLECTION
In order for us to walk as children of Light, we need to stay in the Light. So let’s do all we can to stay prayerful and mindful of God’s Word, which is a lamp to our feet (see Psalm 119:105). And as we go through different experiences, let’s keep our hearts open to the Lord and stay real with Him, ourselves and others, and do – in faith – what we truly believe He is guiding us to do, trusting Him, His higher way and perfect timing. Let’s “…wait for the Lord; he is our deliverer and shield.”(see Psalm 33:20 NET)
Let’s rely on the only perfect One – Jesus Christ – who can infuse us with inner strength and confident peace (see Philippians 4:13 AMP). And as we seek to know and love Him, open to learning His ways, we can trust that our omniscient and omnipotent loving Lord will empower us to face reality in the light of His truth and emerge victorious, praising Him and pointing others to Him.
PRAYER POEM: Boldly
LORD, when I seek Your face help me remember that I can come to You boldly because of Your grace.
My salvation I cannot earn, but help me learn Your higher ways for the rest of my days and please you in all that I do.
