Words as Seeds

”Do not let unwholesome [foul, profane, worthless, vulgar] words ever come out of your mouth, but only such speech as is good for building up others, according to the need and the occasion, so that it will be a blessing to those who hear [you speak].“

‭Ephesians‬ ‭4‬:‭29‬ ‭AMP‬‬

REFLECTION

God’s Word is clear that we reap what we sow…(see Galatians 6:7-9), so let’s be prayerful and careful about the words and actions we sow, trusting the Lord to “work all things together for good …”(see Romans 8:28) in His wise and wonderful way. Let’s stay mindful that we are all works in progress, by God’s grace. And because of Jesus’ perfect sacrifice, we can always come to Him as we are, and ask Him to help us live in a way that honours Him, helps others and bears much good fruit in our lives.

Our caring Creator cares deeply about us. So let’s prayerfully pause before we vent and positively deal with issues etc., while staying respectful towards all people, for every living being was made by God for a purpose, and He is always perfectly good and working behind the scenes. We cannot control other people’s choices / behaviour, but we can ask the Lord to help us develop self-control (which includes controlling our tongue), so as to cultivate faith, hope, love and joy.

PRAYER POEM: Today

LORD, guard my consciousness. Touch my tongue and make it an instrument of righteousness. Come what may, have Your wise and wonderful way in and through me today, in Jesus’ name I pray.
