Purposeful Perseverance

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. (James 1:2-4 NIV)

REFLECTION

This passage reminds me to find my joy and strength in the Lord – as I consider (and frame my perspective with) His promises – while I prayerfully navigate all manner of difficulty, with Him and those involved. I’m reminded to intentionally cultivate appreciation for the growth process and the many opportunities to (spiritually) mature. Our wise Heavenly Father knows exactly what we need and what is required to produce what we need. So, let’s not grumble and complain when tests and trials come, but pray and praise God instead, trusting that – regardless of how we may feel or what we may need to endure – God indeed “…causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”(Romans 8:28 NASB)

PRAYER POEM: Take Heed

Faithful Father God, I’m so grateful that You know and provide exactly what I need. Please help me to stay prayerful, praiseful and take heed.

In tests and trials, remind me of Your love, as You equip me to endure and emerge more mature.
