“Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every hindrance and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy that lay before him, he endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:1-2 CSB)
REFLECTION
While waiting for a class to start, I noticed a very overweight little girl sitting sullenly, sucking on a lollipop. I had seen her before …attached to a lollipop. She wasn’t one of my students, so I asked her what her name was, but she kept her eyes down and didn’t reply. Instead of engaging with another living being, she opted to stay attached to her inanimate sugary snack.
This simple scene stirred up a question to prayerfully ponder, in light of Hebrews 12:1-2. Lord, is there anything hindering my relationship with You and my relationships with those You made?
PRAYER POEM: Tethered to You
Lord, search and sanctify every part of my heart and help me trust You to finish what You start.
Keep me tethered to You in everything I do and may my mind fully align with Your divine design.
