Into the New

Isaiah 40:31 AMP

But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him]
Will gain new strength and renew their power;

They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun];

They will run and not become weary,
They will walk and not grow tired.

REFLECTION:

What does “waiting for the Lord” look like to you? For me, it looks like “trusting God and doing good” (Psalm 37:3) while I wait for Him to do what only He can do. By “trusting” I mean, staying mindful of Him, His Word, irrespective of what my circumstances and / or feelings may be. And by “doing good” I mean relying on Him to guide me to the good works He has prepared for me and to help me do them. And being honest before Him and others, if / when I make a mess in the process, allowing Him to hone humility in my heart, instead of allowing pride to project a parody of perfection. Spending quality time with the One who knows me best and intentionally doing good to others, as I’m given opportunity, helps me rest in the unfolding process (and the messy moments), trusting that God has good reasons why I need to wait, be it to build faith, develop the beautiful fruit of patience or perhaps it’s to protect me from something that only He is aware of. So if this finds you waiting, trust God and do good, knowing that you are not alone in the wait. The Perfect One knows what we don’t and He is perfectly trustworthy at all times. So let’s pray to wait well and to be full of faith that we will indeed rise up like eagles, in His higher way and perfect timing.

PRAYER POEM: Into the New

In You, Jesus, we are strengthened while we wait in the sacred place of grace.

In You we are fortified to fly free and soar high above our shedded past…into the new, imbued with what is eternally true, all because of You.
