“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV)
REFLECTION
In this fallen world, none of us survive childhood unscathed. A perfect childhood does not exist because there are no perfect people on this planet. But praise God, Jesus Christ’s perfect sacrifice makes a way for us to experience true healing and hope. True transformation is possible, but not without the Holy Spirit.
God’s ways are infinitely higher than ours, so the mystery of some moments or seasons can be rather baffling and unsettling at times, but they are also opportunities to press in, pray and deepen trust. In my experience, transformation is not necessarily a linear process. Things don’t always come together as and when expected, but we can trust that God is indeed “causing all things to work together for the good of those who love Him…” (Romans 8:28), in His perfect way and timing. A friend once reminded me that obedience is God’s love language. And I can testify that when we obey God’s (revealed) Word, in faith, there is a peace and joy that rises up in that deep mysterious place in the heart, that nothing or no one can take away, nor can it be hoarded. Hallelujah!
