Empowered to Love

If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.

Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.” (1 Corinthians 13:3-7 MSG)

REFLECTION

There are times when it can feel impossible to actually live out the biblical definition of love. But, nothing is impossible for God. And it’s during the toughest of times that we need to experience and express true love. And only the One who is perfect love can empower us to truly love. So let’s prioritise our relationship with Him, our Maker, turning to Him in everything for everything, and trust Him to do what only He can do, in and through us, as we prayerfully move forward in faith, hope and His empowering love.

PRAYER POEM

Loving Lord, today I pray to stay so close to You, come what may, for You alone know what each day holds, and You are totally trustworthy as life unfolds.
