Reach Out

Don’t be misled: No one makes a fool of God. What a person plants, he will harvest. The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others—ignoring God!—harvests a crop of weeds. All he’ll have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God’s Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life. So let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit. Right now, therefore, every time we get the chance, let us work for the benefit of all, starting with the people closest to us in the community of faith.” (Galatians 6:8-10 MSG)

REFLECTION

When an unexpected personal crisis brings a swirl of sorrow and suffering, it can be tempting to withdraw and tend to the pain alone. But, while it is vitally important to have regular times of private prayer and reflection etc, I’ve found that it’s just as important to continue to reach out to others while going through periods of pain — reaching out to receive and give support. For each one of us [in the body of Christ] is privately processing something and we all need to stay focused on the Head — Jesus Christ — and heed His direction as we seek to unselfishly help each other, trusting the perfectly trustworthy One as we go through the ongoing process of sanctification and transformation this side of Heaven.

PRAYER POEM

Our caring Creator — keep us close to You and connected to each other as we grow through what we go through. Grant us grace to more deeply know and trust You as we journey together, now and into forever.
