Plans & Process

People can plan what they want to do, but it is the Lord who guides their steps.” (Proverbs 16:9 ERV)

REFLECTION

For six days a week, I usually prayerfully do a lot of meaningful work …which has often involved a trip out of my comfort zone. But on the seventh day, I intentionally step back to prayerfully ponder and play — doing things that I have peace about personally enjoying. I’m usually not in recreation mode all day, as errands need to be run and all sorts of every day tasks need to be done, but I prayerfully plan to fit in some fun time. One morning, I woke up really looking forward to a planned day away from the fray, because it had been mostly a very hard week. After having a blessed time of prayer and pondering God’s Word, I got ready for the day…and it did not turn out exactly how I had planned. I was reminded that while prayerful planning has its place, we need to prayerfully stay open and in step with the Lord as each day unfolds, for He knows exactly what we truly need, when and why. We can trust His perfect process. So when circumstances shift, feelings fluctuate and things don’t work out exactly how we think they should, let’s go to God and be real about how we feel and ask Him to help us deal with realities in a prayerfully positive way, for our wonderfully wise and compassionate Creator is faithful.

PRAYER POEM

Loving Lord, I’m so grateful that You are faithful. You alone know exactly what I truly need, so please help me hear and heed Your voice, choice by choice.
