REFLECTION

I don’t always listen well. Sometimes I am so focused on what I want to say and do, that I forget that it’s wise to be quick to listen and slow to speak. When we actively listen, we have the opportunity to experience a more meaningful connection with the person speaking, learn something and be better informed when we do speak. I’ve come to deeply appreciate active listening, not only when it involves other people, but also in my spiritual relationship with my Maker. During times of prayer and pondering, I’ll simply pray something like: “I’m listening, Lord…” and then I’ll be quiet and wait for Him to speak to my heart. As life unfolds, let’s prioritise actively listening to our loving Lord, and learn to lovingly listen to others.

PRAYER POEM

LORD, I’m so grateful that You are deeply concerned about me and every precious person I see. Help me to listen well and to speak the truth, infused with love from above.
