Supernatural Joy

If you remain in Me and My words remain in you [that is, if we are vitally united and My message lives in your heart], ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified and honored by this, when you bear much fruit, and prove yourselves to be My [true] disciples. I have loved you just as the Father has loved Me; remain in My love [and do not doubt My love for you]. If you keep My commandments and obey My teaching, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love. I have told you these things so that My joy and delight may be in you, and that your joy may be made full and complete and overflowing.

REFLECTION

Praise God! Today I experienced supernatural joy, which welled up from the inside and overflowed. The joy I felt was definitely not coming from my circumstances, but it did impact everything and everyone around me. I had back-to-back classes and a variety of issues to deal with. But, early this morning (before my first class), I spent time praying and pondering God’s Word and as the day unfolded, I intentionally cultivated gratitude. I prayed with my students before we dived into academic work, and I was careful to be kind and helpful. And as the joy within me began to bubble up and overflow, my students and I found fun and creative ways to connect and learn together today. I was reminded that when we intentionally and prayerfully seek to love and unselfishly seek the best for one another, supernatural joy is not far off. And when all sorts of issues came up, I experienced the truth of Nehemiah 2:10, in that the joy of the Lord is indeed our strength. Hallelujah!

PRAYER POEM
